Smoke Free Thursdays
A select number of eating and drinking establishments in downtown West Chester have committed to a new program called 'Smoke Free Thursdays' to encourage patrons to leave their cigarettes at home at least one day a week. This joins a growing number of establishments that are now smoke free all the time.

Participating restaurants will display signs like the one on the right that inform the public that Thursdays are now smoke free. To see a directory of participating restaurants, click on Smoke Free Thursdays.

Holly Brown and Scott Smith of the West Chester Borough Council have asked that the West Chester BID and the West Chester Chamber of Commerce assist in creating and promoting this program.

Smoke Free Thursdays coincides with the Great American Smokeout, a national event supported by the American Cancer Society and promotes local and nationwide activities.
In addition, Chester County has published a "100% Smoke Free Dining Directory for Chester County." 25 West Chester Borough restaurants are listed in the directory. A directory of restaurants that are smoke free in downtown can be seen at Totally Smoke Free.

Eating and drinking establishments may join 'Smoke Free Thursdays' anytime so check back to see if your favorite is participating.
